Esteemed American Museum of Natural History Hosts
“One Step Beyond” Dance Party this Friday, June 15
In a trend that is as much about income generation as practical use of public space, museums all around the world are hosting seemingly incongruous events in their large event rooms. The American Museum of Natural History, with its dinosaur skeletons, Eskimo statures, “Creatures of Light” exhibit and space shows, now hosts a monthly party called “One Step casino Beyond.” This Friday’s event, dubbed “the most explosive party this side of the Milky Way,” features acclaimed Philadelphia DJ RJD2, as well as DJs Cosmo Baker and online pokies Import & Export.
While his genres range from hip hop and electronica to trip hop, lo-fi and nu jazz, RJD2″s work has been heavily used in media and the advertising world; for example, since 2007, his “A Beautiful Mine” has been the theme song for AMC’s TV series “Mad Men.” You and your hicup pals can hear his music here on his website.
